anybody who wants help but your gamer tag in comment. i have highest skill 42 in lonewolves and i could have some valuble info. if their is anyone higher or the same or a little lower. im lookin for people to party with.

and by the way heres one of my tips: posistioning on the map. lets say guardian and your at snipe tower there is only 3 other spawn areas of wich they will spawn:green, gold, and blue. if you know this it is a big help sniping em out and not getting ambushed.

Subject: How to be really good at Halo 3 Multiplayer?

I have played this game for awhile now and can accurately say that I know everything there is to know about Halo 3, including all the best stratagies. I can also say that at any given time, whomever play in this game, I have just as good a chance to win as they do.

What are the tricks to being really good in Halo 3 Multiplayer?

    The tricks aren't really tricks. You really just need to practise. From practise, you will find out how good a player you really can become mechanically.  And by mechanically I mean you will see how well you can use weapons effictively, how well you can throw grenades, and how well you will be able to react to prompt situations in that the game requires to be a pro.   Also from practise you will unknowningly gain awareness skills in the game, as this is really the point of any game, to know where the enemy is. Through practice, you will also gain extensive knowledge of the maps, you will learn some strategies from other players in matchmaking, and simply learn little tricks that can sometimes swing games into a favorable win for yourself.

    Once you have practised, it is important to note that 4 good player against 4 decent players is not a given. If it were 1 on 1, then sure, the good player will win, but with 4 on 4, teamwork is key. Not that being around your teammates is a must at all time, but in order for a team to be the best they can be, they will sometimes need to assist each other in kills, which in the end of the game for this instance, will give the 4 decent players a couple plus kils and the 4 good players a couple negative kills, which is a difference of 4 already. Work with your team well enough, and the better team will win. Picture this with objective games, and it is even more complicated to be good.

   Speaking of teamwork, letting your team know where enemies are is CRUCIAL. Use call outs to let them know where perhaps you were just killed, if rockets are up, if invisable is up. In addition, memorzing when weapons spawn is crucial to winning as well. For instance, the invise will come up exactly every 3 min. I believe.

What controller sensitively should I get used to? 10?

    Controller sensitivity is completely up to the player. The higher sensitivity you are capable of using, the better off you will be.  It will allow you to turn quicker, hence kill more people if needed in a close countered battle. In addition, driving vehichles is much easier with higher sensitivity. What it really comes down to though, is what is most comfortable and work for you as that has more of an impact rather than the benifits of it being quicker. However, if you can use 10 just as well as any other, then 10 is the best way to go.

PS: If you are a great player playing a decent player that suprises you, it is important to be able to turn around quicker and kill that enemy, it isn't seen as likely to be killed when you are very good. I never assume I am killed, always fight to the death, people choke. This game is just as much psychological as it is mechanical at times.

What weapons do more damage at the head versus the body?

    You will learn this as you go. You will use the Battle Riffle for most everything and have a nice close countered battle weapon for your secondary, such as a shotgun, or mauler, or assault riffle. When using a Battle Rifle, you want to aim for the head at all times, it should take you 4 shots you kill an enemy....if you want to be good. Sniper is one shot kill in the head, two in the body. Once again, you will learn weapons from playing the game.

What is the secret to being a good grenadier?

    Awareness, projection, technique, and timing. Gain these skills from pactise. The trick of throwing a grenade when weak and being persued, is one of the best and easiest.

How do you use the battle rifle successfully?

    Get the first shot off, and hit 4 times in the head, do not zoom in less they are consirably far away, use your own judgement. Practice alot...

What weapons work well dual wielded?

    You won't see a good player using duel weilds, it isn't worth it and is only a recipe for dying.

How do you use vehicles effectively?

   Practice.  If you are shooting, just shoot and make sure to have a higher sensitivity and let the driver know where enemies are at. If you are driving, respond to what the shooter tells you and from what you can see, just do not get too close to the enemy to where they can stick you, rocket you, or power drain you.

What is the best way to melee from front?

    shoot as much as you need to and then beat down for the kill. You will have a feel for the timing through practise. People with better timing will out beat someone doing that same exact thing but if they don't beat down when they need to, they die, and the good player goes on to kill another.

How exactly does EXP increase?

    EXP is not a big deal, no one really cares too much as there many ways to get double Exp for playing a newbie type game (unrated). typically though, divide their EXP by their total games played and you can get a feel for how good they are. If someone goes in matchmaking alot by themselves, 66 winning percentage is pretty good. If every time they go in with a team, It should be about 74 percent or better. These would be good players that is, considering they have a 50 rating.

    You gain EXP by winning or tying a game.

How do you gain EXP the fastest?

    You play games that take less time, like team doubles, or Lone Wolves. Playing unrated is by far quicker though.

On Team Slayer (and other team games), it is based only on team wins?

    Not completly sure, as once again, EXP really isn't important, but on team slayer, you receive EXP for winning, but you also rank up and rank down differently according to how you placed on your team. If you lost but had 15 kills and 3 deaths, you did pretty well. Then there is a kid who went 1 kill and 15 deaths. Can you tell which one will rank down more?

On Solo Slayer, is it based on getting in top X place?

   Not sure what you mean with this question, but matchmaking in Lonewolves, you get EXP practically for just playing, but in order to rank up quicker, you need that 1st, 2nd place status.

Does Ranked VS Matchmaking make any difference in gaining EXP?

    No, unranked matchmaking will sometimes have a double EXP weekend where you can gain more EXP than you deserve.

The BEST way to get better at using the sniper is to practice alone on standoff. Standoff has birds that fly around near the two satilites and they are able to be killed. They zig zag and coast and do a bunch of crazy stuff but if you can get them down, you have become more steady with your aim - which will help tremendously when using the sniper and BR.

-FFA- The Trick to FFA is awareness. A good halo player will most always know where his opponents are. You can use your sense of hearing to determine where the fight is going on elsewhere. Also, you know that if a player dies on one side of the map, he wont spawn in the same spot that he just died. Another tip is to grenade A LOT! Using grenades is one of your most useful and power weapons in your arsenal...more on grenades in question 4. Another tip goes along with awareness. If you see two people battling it out, judge which one has the least amount of shields. Shoot at that one, and finish the kill, then move on to the other one. He shoud still be weak after the fight he just had, his ammo needs reloading, and should be an easy 2 kills.

-Team Slayer/MLG- The Trick to team games is awareness and team work. If you have three team mates who clean up kills, help their team mates out when they are in a battle, and have a well thought out plan of attack, then you can't lose (unless someone has a better attack plan). I cannot stress this enough, GREAT TEAM WORK is all you need to be a great team. Another tip in team games is keep a positive attitude. Don't cloud the team chat with aw man i got raped, or WHAT ABOUT THAT LAG?! Just keep it simple and call people out (the key to callouts is call them out when you see them-most of the time it will be while your shooting them) This will help draw your team together and, if they are good teammates, should help you finish the kill. And again, dont get mad when people steal your kills. They are doing you a favor by helping you out.

What controller sensitively should I get used to? 10?

The controller sensitivity is purely based upon the player's preference. Find something that you are comfortable with, and stick with it. Keep in mind that 10 sensitivity will be a little hard to no scope and BR. 3 is perfect for me, because its nice and slow. But whatever feels right for you. Another thing about the controller is the button setup. Most of us are used to regular setup. Bumper Jumper, or boxer setups tend to be more productive, if you can get used to it. I tried to get used to them but it was just too hard. Also, TAKE VIBRATION OFF. A friend of mine told me to take vibration off in halo 2. My battle rifle and sniper skills improved TREMENDOUSLY. I didn't jerk a little when i got shot. Again, this will take some time to get used to, but will improve your overall skills as a halo player.

The sniper will kill in one shot to the head. A Battle rifle (should) kill people in either four shots to the head or three shots to the body and one to the head. The latter is the best way to kill people. I usually aim for the neck always, so it hits either one.

What is the secret to being a good grenadier?

A good grenadier is someone who has mastered the skills of throwing grenades. Spend some time in custom games with stickys and human grenades. Try to kill your opponents only with grenades. This is probably more effective than me trying to tell you on this thread. Look for ways to strategically place grenades where your opponents are/are going to be. Most people throw grenades off of the wall, as they should. But since its a regular thing, we expect it. Try throwing grenades off of the ceilings. This can be really helpful when someone is behind a barrier that cant be reached with a grenade off the side of the wall. Also, when someone is chasing you from behind, throw a grenade at your feet and jump over it. There's not much defense to this other than to back off. If you know someone is coming from place x, and you or your teammates are hurt, throw grenades there to hold them off for a few more seconds until all shields are recharged.

How do you use the battle rifle successfully?

Again, three shots to the body, one to the head. Or four shots to the head. Aim for the neck, as its big enough to hit, but most of the time hits both the body and head.

What weapons work well dual wielded?

Dual wielding isn't used much in halo 3. It is mostly AR/BR/SNIPE/ROCKET. But dual SMG's work great for close range. Also, the plasma rifle/pistol combo works really well. The "noob combo" (plasma pistol as primary, BR as secondary) works tremendously. Take out their shields with the plasma pistol charge, then finish them off with one shot to the head with the BR.

How do you use vehicles effectively?

I'm not much of a vehicle driver, so I can't offer the best advice on this. But, as some of you have said already, never stop. Try to stay behind cover 50 if not 75 percent of the time. What helps me is to start up a game on a map big enough to drive on, and just drive. Learn the terrain of the map, what angle of approach you need to have to make certain turns. Learn the braking system. If its a warthog or mongoose, learn the E-break. If its a ghost, chooper, or banshee learn how to boost.

What is the best way to melee from front?

There really isn't a specific way to melee from the front. Jumping a meleeing is more powerful than just a regular melee. One melee and a shot to the head with a BR will kill people. Mix and match with your melees and firing. If they are close enough to shoot you but not close enough to melee, the obviously shoot them. But if they are going up to you trying to get the beat down, try jumping and meleeing then shooting. Also, try timing the crouch as a defense for the melee. Most of the time, your opponents will be aiming chest high or head high with their melee. If your crouch, then they will miss.

How exactly does EXP increase?

For each win, your experience increases.

How do you gain EXP the fastest?

Simple, win :). If your are confident in yourself and in your team, try ranked matches. If you just want to gain experience then go for social matches. The social playlists are usually less serious and you can pull a win easier than you would in ranked. The better the get, the easier you will gain experience. Keep in mind that the higher in rank you are, the tougher the opponents are going to be. Try spreading out your games in different playlists.

On Team Slayer (and other team games), it is based only on team wins?

Yes, if you are on the winning team, but do horrible, you still get experience. Team games are basically judging how well you play as a team. If you work well with your team mates (refer to 1st answer), then you will most likely win.

On Solo Slayer, is it based on getting in top X place?

In FFA gametypes, top 3 people get experience.

Does Ranked VS Matchmaking make any difference in gaining EXP?

No, not experience. You gain experience in both playlists with wins.

There are no secrets that will allow somebody to play better. Its just experience, knowing what the games going to do and actually playing it. You'll eventually get better and learn to control the guns and grenades better.

a really good trick for practicing with a sniper is to throw a frag in the air then shoot it down... you might think its almost impossible but it gets easier...

there is a trick meleeing the top of you opponents head can result in assassination... but it seems if you're falling your more likely to loss a melee competition.
