But, here, we think that the Bodypad is a good product. Why?
For instance : to throw, or make other special actions (like Energy beam in DBZ, Guard in SC, etc.), there are 2 specific buttons in front of the handle - the triggers. Signals send by these 2 triggers, as well as the arms & legs Bodypad signals can be adjusted at will on the Bodypad receiver box.
Another instance : we are not using acceleration sensors (too many accidental signals when boxing + prevent to keep a signal activated), we are using flexion/extension of the arm/leg. etc.
For more info, videos, => www.bodypad.com

<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3324/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>Hello from the Bodypad team First of all, thank you Laura for the great video (as well as for the beat up :)) This comment is for the skepticals :) They are fully right to be skeptical in particular concerning "fighting accessory" which has seen too many bad products. Instead of moving your head in the direction you want your gun to be pointing, it would be better to use the Wiimote (or some advanced light-gun). I watched the videos of Red Steel and read the Red Steel article in GameInformer and from what I understand: The Wiimote is used only for pointing/targeting and shooting, while the nunchuck analog controller is basically used for movement (with the ability to duck and jump with two triggers on the analog device). There is a slight-delay with the camera, when you point the Wiimote (this is intentional). I would rather use the Wiimote for a FPS than the VR headset/gun. It just looks so damn cool =) Can't wait for Red Steel.

<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3305/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>VR has been around for a long time, and while the product demonstrated by Trimersion looked cool...I agree with what Erik is saying. I love ponies!). I would really like to get my hands on a robo-sapien or robo-raptor for my apartment. That would be awesome. Before you know it, we'll have legitimate robotic pets.

Anyway, great job, ladies. I hope Tina enjoyed her burger.
<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3294/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>Awesome segment, Laura. You ladies were very busy...I hope you were well paid. I particularly like the Novint game controller. Playing Half-Life 2 with that must have been amazing - ultra sensory crowbar action! The Trimersion looks very promising, especially compaired to…</evnet:previewtext>

<trackback:ping>http://on10.net/3294/Trackback.aspx</trackback:ping>

cool stuff

Thanks Laura! ;)

<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3293/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>Thanks Laura! ;)</evnet:previewtext>

<trackback:ping>http://on10.net/3293/Trackback.aspx</trackback:ping>

hardwear

the virtual headset and body pads seem pretty cool

<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3290/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>the virtual headset and body pads seem pretty cool</evnet:previewtext>

<trackback:ping>http://on10.net/3290/Trackback.aspx</trackback:ping>

Re: Re: Only a matter of time, 'til we get the real Tron

edit: segment.

<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3289/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>edit: segment.</evnet:previewtext>

<trackback:ping>http://on10.net/3289/Trackback.aspx</trackback:ping>

Re: Only a matter of time, 'til we get the real Tron

For example, the Body Pad is a great concept and appeared to be working okay at E3, but as we know, there are moves in DOA4 that would be pretty difficult to pull off with the Body Pad (or even in real life =).

But, I get the idea and it's a neat one. Although, I have to ask...how do you throw with the Body Pad?

I like the idea/direction these companies are going with these products. They are thinking outside the box and trying to provide gamers with just more than a controller, light-gun, dance-pad, or even a mouse. And I support that. Does it mean a better gaming experience? Maybe.

It's a step in the right direction. Personally, I would just stick with the controller and mouse (and dance-pad). I would be interested to try these new products, however.

"WowWii" jokes aside, I did like the WowWee robots (especially the clawed, dancing robot).

<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3288/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>For example, the Body Pad is a great concept and appeared to be working okay at E3, but as we know, there are moves in DOA4 that would be pretty difficult to pull off with the Body Pad (or even in real life =). But, I get the idea and it's a neat one. It was cool to see who else was at E3, other than the game developers.

It's kind of difficult to say my opinions on the products shown, because I think I would need to test them out (but, I guess you could say the same for the new consoles and games as well). Interesting demonstrations.

I'm too not skeptical, but I must say there is something about some of the products shown that I think might not work as well as they should.

<evnet:views>0</evnet:views><evnet:viewtrackingurl>http://on10.net/3286/WebViewBug.aspx?EVT=0</evnet:viewtrackingurl><evnet:previewtext>Well, this was certainly an interesting E3, with all of these new type of new games, consoles, gadgets and devices being introduced. I really liked this segement.
