We dropped in at Microsoft Research (MSR) to get a look at the potential for today’s technologies long before they ever evolve into products. Andy Wilson’s Play Anywhere prototype uses a clever combination of a projector, a camera, and a computer to develop what is probably the most intuitive human interface for digital information yet (Minority Report anyone?). Andy showed us the Coffee Compass, which could certainly become a popular in-car hack.

Play anywhere looks like what Bill was talking about at the last CES. Its pretty amazing.

Coffiee Compass? No comment
Cool. I´d like to be able to use Photoshop with that tech. Smiley
A lost keyring (with keys obviously) compass would be interesting.

Great stuff Bill & Laura.
I got to see this at a recent MS tech show and it's crazy awesome.

Good to see some of the stuff that research does see the light of day.
This has so many possible applications it's insane. Now all they got to do is shrink the whole package down to the size of a cell phone and ship it tommorrow so i can use it.

Coffee compass.... well... if you could make it find my freaking keys and remotes I would buy one.

I never thought it was Laura that was filming... Nice work
