I went overseas...to go back in time. The London Natural History Museum has an amazing exhibit up right now featuring the latest technology in animatronics. Of course, its no fun to show off life-like skin, movements, breathing patterns and feeding trends in little creatures....so they did it to Dinosaurs. They created huge dinosaur replications and gave them the personalities that they would have had back when they ruled the earth, quite frightening I must say.

Great segment, Laura, and released on a weekend no less.  What a treat!  I've always thought animatronics were interesting, especially when modeling the behavior of dinosaurs.  I think the most life-like animatronic dinos I've ever seen were at the "Countdown to Extiction" ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida.  Have you ever seen them or been there?  Anybody else?

I loved your little joke about being tasety.  I would have agreed with him. Wink  Then again, I'm sure you were equally pleased.  Do you find the queen's english (guys who speak it) sexy?  hehe.  Nice outfit, BTW.  Very modern gothic, but natural.

Was it just me or did his office look very boring?

Hey, that looked kinda cool, i did not realise they had a new exhibition, im a frequent visitor to NHM, such animatronics, i think are wasted on people my age,(we know better) however it's great for the kids.

I sincerly hope you gotta chance to go on the tour of the Tank room dowstairs, in the Darwin Centre, a couple of months ago i got permission as an Artist to sketch, a newly found Giant Squid they had down there- (HEyuuuge), it also stank down there, but it was a curio luvvers dream with tanks containing some animals and marine life that are practically aliens to most of us -(Oar fish!) , they also had some of Charles Darwins first specimens, The squid in question was around 7metres in lenght, it had teeth on the suckers!

well if you go again, check it out- Carmen, head curator at Marine biology is the person to ask to get permission. Smiley

That was cool. I've been a long time dinosaur fanatic and I'm happy to see this exhibit happening. Those dinosaurs look pretty damn realistic (although, we have still yet to perfect animatronic movement=).

These dinos are much better than the ones at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle (those have been there for a LONG time).

And of course, "The Universe of Engery" exhibit at the Walt Disney World EPOCT Center has their animatronic dinosaurs and I highly recommend checking that ride out, whenever you go to Disney World.

The animatronic dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park films have been impressive and I can't wait to see what Stan Winston creates for Jurassic Park 4.

Oh yeah, that video clip of the caveman fighting the stop-motion allosaurus is from "One Million Years B.C.", which featured Raquel Welch in her famous "cave girl" bikini =)

Hi Laura,
Fantastic, that guy was really interesting.  Very serious, but I could see your charm was working on him, I know it works on me.  See you next time.
