I've always been a huge advocate of making the most of your television watching experience. It looks as though the folks over at  Microsoft MediaRoom agree with me. MediaRoom is more than Microsoft IPTV with a brand-new name, as it adds new features like personal media sharing, enhanced picture-in-picture capabilities, and a new multimedia application environment. The Mediaroom software platform is licensed directly to the world’s leading broadband service providers so they can deliver you, the consumer, the best TV and entertainment experience.

This could really get some other interesting features currently imposible on cable or satellite:

  • Seeing who of your friends is watching the same things as you- allows for conversations at the office
  • Reccomendation sending direct from TV to TV
  • Direct conversations over the TV

I am curious though why some of the features on the demo are unique to this service- I know that Sky and Virgin Media in the UK whenever I am over there allow me to see multiple camera and audio profiles.

Very Nice though- just wish every service includes all these features.

EDIT: Ha! Just realised half the things I said were shown on the 360 demo... well done MS.

That's what I want too, MediaRoom's IPTV on Media Center, it just makes sense... I would buy extenders for every room in the house... well for 5 since it's the number each Media Center computer supports. I'm getting MediaRoom next week and I also have analog cable with Media Center, If I'm to keep just MediaRoom, I need integration.

I'm dieing to find out how Media Center and MediaRoom will work together.  Someone needs to tell folks if their investment in Media Extenders will support MediaRoom.  And it would be nice to know if Microsoft plans to embed MediaRoom in Media Center.
