Windows Mobile Website Gets Revamped

Last week, the Windows Mobile homepage got a makeover courtesy of Silverlight. The new site looks pretty slick, I have to say, and it also makes it easier to find just the sort of Windows Mobile phone you want by letting you search carriers worldwide by feature. The site highlights Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software like Office Mobile, Outlook Mobile, Internet Explorer Mobile, Live Search, and more, as well as third-party software which is found in the site’s “Total Access” section (formerly called “Windows Mobile Owners Circle”). With a wide array of good-looking phones that include everything from touch screen devices to those with full keyboards, there are 100s of devices to choose from like these, for example:

Yay! It's about time. I always though the WinMo site (like a lot of other MS sites) were a bit stale in the year 2008, but it's good to see a contemporary refresh on the WinMo site.

It looks good, and it's nice that they renamed "Windows Mobile Owner Circle" into a better name like "Total Access". Hopefully that means more new features.

I just wish they wouldn't drop annoying ads on the pages (did I come visit to look at a certain product, or other products?), and the Windows Mobile Catalog (store) is really weak as a way to get neat apps., downloads, and such.

But it's much better though.
