First off, you guys bring a great perspective into the gamer exclusivity topic.  Great comments.  I tend to bounce back and forth on the subject and I appreciate your opinions.  But Ted, let's be real...how awesome would it be to play Mario on the 360?  Smiley  I see your point though.  Anyway, I had a chance to play Battlefield 2142 with some of the best FPS players in the world.  Needless to say, um I died a lot.  But the game is of course.  Awesome.  Great air and land battles and getting behind the battlewalker in 2142 was a blast.  It's coming out in mid-october so if you salivate over the series like I do.  Pick it up.  Would love to get insight into what you guys think of this series and which battlefield was your favorite?

Hmm...I could ONLY see this happening if Nintendo went the Sega route and became a third-party. Otherwise, I couldn't imagine the idea.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed reading our responses to the "exclusivity" thread. I apologize for the long read.

Alright, as for Battlefield 2142, I'm interested in trying out the game. I like the "Ice Age" story idea and soldiers are not fight extraterrestrials, but another nation. The futuristic setting is nice for Battlefield (sort of refreshing departure from all those "modern" war settings, but at the same time, I'm kind of getting tired of these far-into-the-future FPS games as well). Minor gripes aside, the game looks good and I've always enjoyed riding around in vehicles and blowing $*it up! Piloting those helicopters in Battlefield 2: MC was so much fun!

I didn't really like the single-player campaign of "Modern Combat", but thought the multiplayer was fun (although, I also thought it did have some issues).

Some people have said that Battlefield 1942 is still the best and I kind of agree. Without question, it was one of the best WWII games to ever be created and released.

I noticed "2142" is only coming to the PC (for now), so I'll wait and see if EA decides to port it to the Xbox360 (as they did with BF2: MC).

And I'm also aware of Battlefield: Bad Company coming to the Xbox360 and that looks pretty sweet.

I really enjoyed G.R.A.W. and it's setting of combat. If they made more games that were not so much too far into the future like that, I'd be totally supportive of it.

Now, all we have to do is wait and see if Call of Duty will get a "futuristic" setting...

Mario on 360 would be cool I admit. Mario Achievements! "Stomp on 500 Koopas" or "Get dooped into going into the wrong castle only to find out the Princess is in another one." As far as Battlefield goes I can't really comment. I'm not too familiar with the franchise, having only played the demo on the 360. I do think the idea of doing war games in different eras, including the future, is great though. I know I'd love to see "Call of Duty: Rise of the Machines".
Mario on the 360?  Blasphemy!  Bite your tongue for even suggesting such a preposterous idea!  How could you possibly betray Nintendo like that?  I'm just kidding!  I think you're becoming an Xbox 360 fangirl, and that's worrisome. Sad

I love the Battlefield series.  I agree with just about everything V360 said.  Battlefield 1942 set a standard that has yet to be eclipsed.  The expansion packs really added new life to the game as it aged.  It was one of the greatest World War II games ever made.  Then again, World War II is a great inspiration for games and a hard conflict to top.

Battlefield Vietnam was a great idea, but it seemed to dry up before it even started.  Almost everybody quite playing several months after it was released.

Battlefield 2 is my favorite Battlefield game so far.  It’s beautiful, immersive, fun to play, and very competitive.  I happen to like the settings and features of the modern battlefield.  It makes for a great game experience.  I do not, however, like the weak ports on the consoles, including the 360 iteration.  Those games are nowhere near as good the computer standard.  I’m skeptical of Bad Company’s success.  It feels like the console versions are always lacking features, and the single player campaigns are weak on a mass conflict scale.

Battlefield 2142 looks impressive, though I’ll admit that I’m a little bored of the Battlefield series.  I think it could use a few years of uninterrupted play before a new one is released.  I’m not sure if I’ll invest in 2142 yet.  Perhaps if you gave us a demonstration until your avatar died, I might be willing to invest more time in considering it.  Then again, I don’t know how long you’ll last based on your comments.  You might want to try fragging some noobs for us instead of sparring with experts.  You might be a goddess, but even a goddess has her limits.

I’m a little weary of setting the games in a fictional distant future.  I like the Tom Clancy idea of setting the games a few years ahead, but 136 years is a bit of a long shot for something that takes it’s inspiration from simulators.

“Enemy Territory: Quake Wars” looks like a great alternative to the Battlefield series that has an established history to follow.  It’s more of a battlefield simulator than an arena game.  It also offers some great innovations to the genre like mobile command basses and the ability to assimilate your opponents into your army.

After reading your post, I’m reminded of your time co-hosting Attack of The Show.  Kevin was covering Battlefield 2 and graphic cards during that episode.  Ah, memories. Smiley
