Rendering is the process of generating an image from a model, by means of computer programs. The model is a description of three dimensional objects in a strictly defined language or data structure. It can contain geometry, viewpoint, texture, lighting, and shading information. The image is a digital image or raster graphics image. 'Rendering' is also used to describe the process of calculating effects in a video editing file to produce final video output.

I talked to student McKane Lee at the GNWC Masters of Ditigal Media program a few weeks ago and he gave us a little demo of how he rendered parts of his short film Crossing.  And today, I share that demo with you.

heh... he managed to make something simple enough to explain sound rather complicated.  His demo was decent enough, but the interface in all 3D modeling and animation software is always a little confusing if your not just quick rendering or previewing a frame.
