I also have Vista Media Center (MC). I will tell you my experience and I hope that will help you in your decision.

What Tuners I have:

My PC is located in my office, I have an HDhomeRun (2 tuners) and a Hauppauge-500 (2 tuners) for a total of 4 tuners (2 HD and 2 standard). I have Comcast Cable in my area, and they broadcast my local channels in HD (QAM) which the HDhomRun picks up, the Hauppauge-500 is used for standard cable, I do not have/use settop boxes. If I were you I would find out about QAM or over the air HD before you buy the HD tuner. I would recommend a dual tuner, you are able to watch and record at the same time. However there are limitations in the number of tuners in a Vista MC PC, I think 2 standard and 2 HD but I could be wrong. I have a 500GB internal drive and able to record all tuners at once without lag

How I use MC

In my setup I have 2 Xbox 360 connecting to my MC Vista PC, one in the front room and one in the kitchen (I have another 360 but have not connected it yet). I normally do not watch more than 1 show at the same time, at different location, however it is possible. I have tested it where I watched to live TV shows at the same time.

Thank you for pointing me in that direction. I am extremely new to Media Center. I have a Vista Ultimate and a single tuner card. Should I add a dual tuner card to have an hd box hooked up and maybe an attenna or what would a could setup be? My goal is to be able to watch hd in the family room, bed room, and in my basement. I want to be able to watch what I want rather than have to be on the same channel. Also, I want to be able to record several things at once possible. One last thing, I have to have CHarter, what about the on demand features? Thanks in advance.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but was this the first episode or are there more? If there are more, where do I find them? I always watch MTV Cribs, but I work for a partner of Microsofts, so this is more my speed. Thanks.

Very nice setup!

I want to connect an HDTV topbox but do not what to deal with the IR blaster from the media center to the HDTV topbox, I have heard nothing but nightmare about IR blasters. How are you connecting the Comcast HDTV topbox to your media center? What type of tuners do you have in the Media Center?

I know it may be off topic but why isn't the Windows Home server IOS’s on MSDN? I really want to play with the Home Server but can’t find the ISO?
