Introducing people to new and exciting ways to use Microsoft products is one of the perks of working for this company- but it's also a challenge. You have to be pretty creative in order to catch peoples attention. That's why we created the "World Cup Demo Competition". Microsoft employees from all over the world were asked to perform a demonstration of Windows Vista applications and really WOW their audiences. The best demo'er wins ten grand! Surface Demo Apps

The Microsoft Surface team creates sample (or "demo") applications which show off Microsoft's Surface's potential. Eagle-eyed blogger Long Zheng found a great flickr photo set of these demo apps taken by a Microsoft Canada employee, Jean-Luc David, upon his visit to the Redmond campus. The photos include shots of the water-ripple demo, the photo application, Virtual Earth, a game called ScatterPuzzle, a game called Ghosts, a Backgammon game, a music player, plus some amazing interactive visualizations. Woohoo! PGR4 demo now available on XBL Marketplace.

The demo is available for all Xbox Live regions and is 1.27GB in size.

Beautiful Katamari Demo up on Xbox Live Marketplace

And if your cable/DSL modem hasn't been hammered enough for one week The King of All Cosmos and his son (The Prince) make their way onto Xbox 360 for the first time via the Beautiful Katamari demo; now available on Xbox Live Marketplace.

For the uninitiated, the Katamari series revolves (ha!) around rolling sticky balls across the globe collecting objects to help rebuild the stars. It's bizarre, silly, cute, challenging and fun all at once.

The demo is available (at this stage) for North America, Mexico, Japan and Asia with the full game expected to be on shelves later this year.

BioShock Demo available on XBL Marketplace

Possibly the most highly anticipated game of 2007. The demo for E3 2006's Game of Show - BioShock - is now available to download on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Bioshock was recently awarded 10 out of 10 from Official Xbox Magazine UK. The game launches next week starting in the US on August 21.

Stranglehold demo now up on Xbox Live Marketplace

John Woo's Stranglehold, the spiritual sequel to his 1992 Hong Kong based action epic Hard Boiled, is due to hit shelves later this month.

But for all you Inspector Tequila fans out there (like me) eager to get an early taste the demo is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace for free for all regions (except Germany).

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point - Free Demo

Okay, it's time to get down to business people. I am going to be bringing you a first person perpective of free demos for PC games. In an attempt to make this gaming segment work for you, feel free to offer any suggestions on upcoming free demos you would like me to cover. And when I say "cover" I don't mean simply tell you when the game is coming out and all the cool new weapons you can get your greedy little gamer hands on. I may do some of that too...but I'm going to play the demo for the first time and film it. I won't stop until I die. Yep. A personal glimpse into my lack of PC gaming skills. It's all about the console, baby! Okay, first stop F.E.A.R Extraction Point. I'll tell you some of the boring details. It's slated to come out mid-October. It's the first expansion pack released for this popular horror themed FPS. It does have this cool crate-supply system we didn't get to see in the first game and from what I can tell, you don't get to execute it during this demo. There's also a new wicked chain gun- which, of course, I die before I even find out if it's IN this demo. And to make things even more interesting...I shut off all the lights in my house and played FEAR in the complete dark. For a wimp like me, that's a huge deal...HUGE! Finally- go ahead and tell me your thoughts on F.E.A.R.!
