Login Here, There, Everywhere With Window Live Messenger

Recently, the Windows Live team introduced all new versions of the Windows Live products and tools including new Windows Live Hotmail, Live Messenger, Live Photo Gallery, and more. As I’ve been using them, I keep coming across new features. One new feature that I discovered today in Windows Live Messenger is the ability to stay signed in on one PC even when I sign in to another. This is available under Tools –> Options –> Sign In. In order to customize this setting, you have to be currently signed into Messenger. Once you are, you’ll see the option becomes available instead of greyed out. Now you are able to stay signed in to your PC even when you sign into another PC, something I discovered today when I moved from the office to the laptop. You can also configure the name of this place to be something you’ll recognize like “home pc” or “laptop” for example. The name will default to your PC’s name, and that may be fine for you. The only problem I had was when I used Windows Live Messenger for mobile from my mobile phone later on – that signed me out on my PC.

O Windows Live Video Messages Beta é feito para facilitar a comunicação de vídeo entre amigos próximos. Em vez de você e seu amigo combinarem um horário para ter um bate-papo com vídeo, vocês podem trocar vídeo-recados a qualquer momento de forma simples e rápida. O serviço está sendo lançado hoje junto com a nova linha de mouses, teclados e webcams da Microsoft. Ele é feito totalmente em Silverlight o que dá uma interface bacana ao site além da integração com sua webcam.

Basicamente, o Windows Live Video Messages Beta permite que você grave vídeos curtos para enviar como se fossem voicemail, correio de voz como temos no celular. Você envia só para quem você quer que veja o vídeo. A pessoa pode responder o seu vídeo com outro vídeo ou pode encaminhar esse vídeo para seus amigos. Os vídeos ficam todos dentro desse serviço, ou seja, ele não vai para o Soapbox ou Youtube. Você ainda pode travar o vídeo para que ele não seja encaminhado.

O WL Video Messages Beta é integrado com o Windows Live Messenger. Ele automaticamente puxa os seus contatos do Messenger para você enviar vídeos a eles. O Serviço ainda conta com uma lista de 6 contatos favoritos para você poder rapidamente criar e enviar vídeo-recados.

O que eu achei mais bacana foi o Gadget de Windows Vista criado para uso com webcams Microsoft Lifecam. O Gadget, que já está em português, permite que você crie e envie vídeo-recados direto da sua área de trabalho sem ter que entra no site do serviço. E não só isso, mas ele também recebe os vídeo-recados que os seus amigos enviaram para você. O Gadget pode ser baixado aqui.

If you've ever dreamed about how great it would be to have the possibility to chat with your friends while using a public computer e.g. in the library, Internet café or in your friend's house but you coudn't because there was no Messenger installed I have some news for you.
You can do it now with new MSN Web Messenger. It differs from the "traditional" Windows Live Messenger since it doesn't have to be installed on the computer you are going to use for your chatting.
All you need is a computer with an Internet connection and then just type http://webmessenger.msn.com in your web browser (no later versions than Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, Netscape 7.1 or Mozilla 1.6).
If you use Explorer you can also add this site to your "favourites" straight away by clicking Ctrl+D.

You can add this to your blog too: Add Windows Live Messenger to your Blog

It is a simple matter of going to the above live.com (obviously, log in with your Live ID) and using the simple online form to configure your Messenger web widget.

The really, really cool thing is that you can have either a chat window, or your presence live on your blog.

If you like to chat and also enjoy helping others there is a great option for you. And it will not cost you a cent. For every conversation you start by using Windows Live Messenger there is a certain amount of money donated to your preferred charity organization - e.g. I've chosen the UNICEF. In order to contribute to our society this way you just have to add a special logo "I´M" in front of your name. There has been almost $150,000 raised so far.
You might also consider to star in a new MTV project that is starting now in order to promote this cause.
Windows Live Messenger has over 220 million contacts worldwide. It is popular for the wide range of services it offers. Apart from the traditional text, phone and video conversations users can play games (e.g. chess), chat with special agents like Encarta and share their photos and other files. All this is for free - as well as other Windows Live services.

Muitos usuários pediram e a equipe da Microsoft responsável pelo programa de edição e organização de fotos respondeu. A ferramenta que fará parte da suíte completa de serviços Windows Live, chamada Galeria de Fotos do Windows Live, virá com integração com o Flickr. Isso mesmo, você poderá publicar suas fotos ao Flickr ou ao Windows Live Spaces direto do programa sem ter que entrar na Web. Detalhe importante, os metadatos e as Tags, ou Marcas, serão retidos ao fazer a publicação para o Flickr.

Uma atualização automática via Windows Update trará as novas funcionalidades na forma de versão Beta 2.2 dos serviços Windows Live. Quem não tiver a suite e quiser instalá-la é só ir ao http://get.live.com para baixar qualquer um dos produtos. No Brasil, isso inclui o Windows Live Messenger, o Windows Live Mail, o Galeria de Fotos do Windows Live, o Windows Live Writer, a Toolbar e o Family Safety. Lembramos que esses produtos ainda estão em Beta, portanto o desempenho e a estabilidade não é igual a de um produto final. A suite de ferramentas está disponível tanto para o Windows Vista como para o Windows XP com Service Pack 2.

New versions of Live Writer, Messenger, and Mail

The Windows Live journey continues today with new versions of three sweet little apps. Windows Live Writer gets a great UI refresh and increased support for Spaces, Wordpress, and Typepad using the Provider Customization API. The most complete walkthrough of Windows Live Writer upgrades comes from Scott at Liveside. The Windows Live Messenger upgrade brings it in line with the new Live UI, and the full expose of updates comes from Nicole on the Messenger team Space. Last but not least, Windows Live Mail wraps up the Live desktop upgrade. POP and IMAP accounts are now supported as well as a cleaner summary view for contacts.
