Channel 9 continues their Vista Week with a great look behind the scenes at Robert Fripp's work creating the soundscape behind the Windows Vista UX. In this one hour video you'll see how much thought went in to what you hear during the user experience and get a taste of the six hours of multi-track recordings that were composed and then whittled down for the default Windows Vista sound scheme.

Robert also talks about his gear and the recording equipment used at Microsoft Studios.

British Library right to your computer

Tim Sneath, our resident WPF and Vista expert, takes us into the British Library. Well, some of their most prized possessions at least. The idea behind this is that you don't actually have to fly to London and buy a ticket to the British Library to be able to experience some of these works. Through the power of Vista, ancient titles -- hundreds of years old -- have been scanned in and you lose almost none of the authenticity in the transfer. See for yourself. It really is amazing.

If you're looking for the next hot conference, the Mix '07 Countdown gadget will show you how long you've got to prep for the 72-hour conversation. For those who simply cannot put together a colorful website (or outfit), the Color Swatches gadget will deliver you softly into the technicolor world. If you're web-two-oh savvy, then you can chirp at your friends with Twitter's Twadget gadget. To minimize your time stuck in traffic, the Traffic by Live Search Maps gadget will help you drive quicker. Office 2007 - Excel

Mor Hezi, the senior product manager for Microsoft Excel stops by to sum it all up for us. Ha, ha, okay that was so bad. But seriously people the new Excel is so much easier to use. With the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 Home Tab on the new user interface, you can immediately view the most important cell-editing, formatting, and navigation tools. You no longer have to hunt for the menu to quickly format the appearance of a cell or filter your data. Watch this video and then go get your pivot table on.

Installing Windows Vista!

I recruited our resident Vista expert Ernie Booth to appear on Channel 10 and install Windows Vista for us. Sure, some people are fearful of installing a new operating system on their computer; after all, it's the most important component of your computer. We hope to ease some of those anxieties with this piece. We are going to demonstrate how to upgrade your operating system to Windows Vista. (Don't forget to back-up your data! :)

Hamad Darwish sets the tone for Vista

How often have you browsed through the pictures in your operating system only to wonder where they came from? Wonder no more, Hamad Darwish was just one man and his camera until he got a fateful Flickr message asking if he would like to make a little money. He continued to take 6000 photos across southern Oregon, picking his favorite 15 for submission to Microsoft. From that, 5 were selected for millions of us to look at and think about being somewhere else.
